Supporters of the Umar Yahaya Connect movement in the diaspora have commended Ahmed Usman Ododo and key stakeholders across Ankpa Federal Constituency for what they described as a bold and inclusive step toward zoning the 2027 House of Representatives seat to Omala Local Government Area.

The group gave the commendation at a political gathering held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, where members—comprising community leaders, grassroots mobilisers and political influencers, converged to review recent developments within the constituency.

Speakin at the event, participants praised the governor’s leadership style, noting that the zoning consideration reflects a growing commitment to equity, fairness and rotational representation among the three local government areas of Omala, Ankpa and Olamaboro.

According to a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the diaspora supporters described the move as “a clear demonstration of democratic maturity and inclusiveness,” adding that the consultative approach adopted by political actors in the constituency has helped to strengthen unity and mutual respect among the people.

They further noted that the arrangement underscores the importance of balancing interests within the federal constituency, stressing that such political understanding is critical to sustaining peace and cooperation across the area.

While expressing appreciation to the governor and other stakeholders, the group also used the opportunity to make a case for the candidacy of Hon. Umar Yahaya in the forthcoming contest.

The supporters urged Hon. Yahaya, who currently represents Omala Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, to consider throwing his hat into the ring for the House of Representatives seat in 2027.

They described him as a visionary and grassroots-oriented leader with the competence, integrity and political experience required to effectively represent the interests of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency at the national level.

The group also appealed to Governor Ododo and other political stakeholders in the constituency to give favourable consideration to Hon. Yahaya’s potential candidacy, citing his track record in youth empowerment, community development and legislative engagement.

Observers at the meeting noted a strong undercurrent of political mobilisation, as speakers repeatedly emphasised the need for cohesion and strategic collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering concluded with a renewed pledge by members to remain committed to peaceful political engagement and to support the re-election bid of Governor Ododo in November 2027, which they said would ensure continuity in governance and sustained development across Kogi State.
