Gov. Ododo Inaugurates Kogi NYSC Governing Board, Pledges Stronger Support for Corps Members

The Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has inaugurated the Kogi State Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), reiterating his administration’s commitment to youth development, national integration and the strengthening of institutions that promote sustainable growth.

Representing the Governor, His Excellency the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, performed the inauguration on Thursday in his office in Lokoja.

Speaking during the event, the Governor expressed appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his bold commitment to youth empowerment, human capital development and the vision of building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

Governor Ododo noted that the success of the NYSC Scheme at the state level depends on effective coordination, sound policy direction and strong collaboration among stakeholders, describing the Governing Board as a strategic institution for achieving the objectives of the Scheme in Kogi State.

He stated that members of the Board were carefully selected based on their competence, experience and dedication to public service, expressing confidence in their ability to provide effective leadership and guidance for the smooth operation of the NYSC in the state.

The Governor congratulated the Chairman and other members of the Board, describing their appointment as a call to greater service.

He charged the Board to work harmoniously in promoting the welfare, safety and well-being of corps members, while strengthening collaboration with security agencies, and other critical stakeholders to ensure a safe and conducive environment for all corps members serving in Kogi State.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman of the Kogi State NYSC Governing Board, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, said the NYSC is a vital platform for promoting leadership, patriotism and community service, adding that the governing board will oversee the forthcoming inauguration of the corps members in the state.

He commended Governor Ododo for prioritising youth development through deliberate policies and investments, assuring of his Ministry’s continued partnership with the NYSC and other stakeholders.

On her part, the Kogi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Chris Moneke Chika Tochi, reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to the state’s development, saying corps members would continue to support the state’s socio-economic growth and community development efforts in partnership with the government.
