Stakeholders from Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, under the aegis of Omala Indiaspora and Omala Home Base, have formally endorsed Hon. Umar Yahaya as their preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat for Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement, which took place in Lokoja the state capital, drew community leaders, party faithful, youths, and women from across the council area, who converged to express what they described as a “collective and decisive” support for the lawmaker.
Speaking on behalf of the group, spokesperson Mohammed Awal Halilu said the decision to back Yahaya was based on his “verifiable achievements and consistent grassroots engagement,” rather than political sentiment.
According to Halilu, the aspirant has distinguished himself through impactful interventions across key sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
He noted that in the education sector, Hon. Yahaya facilitated the distribution of over 400 free JAMB forms, awarded scholarships, and sponsored no fewer than 27 students in tertiary institutions.
“In community development, he has supported the construction of roads, boreholes, and solar-powered streetlights, directly improving the living conditions of our people,” Halilu stated.
He further disclosed that the lawmaker initiated the construction of a cottage hospital in Ogudu District to enhance access to healthcare, while also supporting farmers with inputs and equipment to boost agricultural productivity.
The group also highlighted Hon. Yahaya’s role in youth and women empowerment through skill acquisition programmes in tailoring, ICT, and modern farming techniques, as well as his sponsorship of a N1.5 million football tournament aimed at engaging youths and promoting unity.
On infrastructure, Halilu said the politician facilitated the installation of over 50 streetlights and contributed to the renovation of community centres across the area, in addition to his involvement in the rehabilitation of the Abejukolo township road.
He added that ongoing borehole projects across the 11 wards in Omala are nearing completion, significantly improving access to potable water.
In the area of security, the spokesperson credited Hon. Yahaya with investing in the construction of the Ibado Akpacha police post and facilitating the approval of a Forward Operating Base in Bagana, describing both as critical interventions in addressing security challenges in the constituency.
He also cited the distribution of palliatives and over N7.5 million in cash support to vulnerable residents during the last festive season as part of the aspirant’s social welfare efforts.
“These are clear indications that Hon. Umar Yahaya understands the needs of the people and has already been providing effective representation even before seeking higher office,” Halilu said.
He described Hon. Yahaya as “accessible, dependable, and deeply connected to the grassroots,” urging constituents in Ankpa and Olamaboro local government areas to align with the endorsement.
“Our decision is driven by the desire for continuity, equity, and purposeful leadership. We believe he possesses the capacity to deliver quality representation at the national level,” he added.
The endorsement marks an early political alignment in the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political activities gradually gather momentum across Kogi State.
