The Governor of Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved the redeployment of Barrister Salami Ozigi Deedat from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to the Ministry of Works, following the resignation of Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf as Commissioner for Works.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Folashade Ayoade.
According to the statement, the governor also approved the appointment of the immediate past Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, popularly known as “Dollar,” as Commissioner-designate.
With the redeployment, Deedat will now oversee the Ministry of Works, taking over the position vacated by Engr. Yusuf, who recently stepped down from the cabinet.
The statement further noted that Bello’s appointment is subject to screening and confirmation by the Kogi State House of Assembly in line with constitutional provisions.
The SSG, Mrs. Ayoade said the appointments take immediate effect.
Alhaji Bello served as chairman of the ruling party in the state until recently and played a prominent role in party organisation and mobilization during the last electoral cycle.
Barrister Deedat, who previously headed the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, is expected to bring his administrative experience to bear in the Works Ministry as the state government continues to pursue ongoing road and infrastructure projects.
