INEC Raises Alarm Over Fake Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fake and unauthorised website circulating online and falsely presenting itself as an INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal 2026.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the Commission said the website — okripeti.org/Inec-ADhoc-Sta… — has no link whatsoever with INEC, stressing that all information, data and application forms hosted on the platform are false and deliberately designed to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

INEC clarified that recruitment of ad-hoc staff is conducted only through its official platform known as INECPRES, adding that the commission has not authorised any other portal or third-party website for the exercise.

According to the electoral body, the only authentic links for the 2026 Federal Capital Territory Area Council election ad-hoc staff recruitment are pres.inecnigeria.org for web and iOS users, and presmobile.inecnigeria.org for Android users.

The Commission cautioned prospective applicants to verify all recruitment information strictly through its official channels and warned against clicking suspicious links or submitting sensitive personal details such as BVN, passwords, one-time passwords or bank information on unverified platforms.

INEC further advised Nigerians to always ensure that any recruitment-related website ends with inecnigeria.org, noting that anyone who may have already registered on the fake portal should discontinue immediately and reapply only through the approved links.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency, credibility and the protection of the public from fraudulent activities, urging citizens to remain vigilant as the recruitment process approaches.
